My Little Black Belt
Ramsey got her official first degree black belt two months ago. I’m so proud of her, and I honestly believe she has innate abiliy that shows up beautifully and elegantly in her forms. I wish I was half as good.
Last night, she helped instruct me on my own forms for upcoming testing. She mentioned how our instructor, Mr. Bragg, joked to the class that if we arrived early and helped set up chairs for the families to watch their kids test, the judges just might overlook flaws. Then Ramsey offered this tidbit:
“The one thing you might want to consider is to get lower in your stances. It’s like helping out with the chairs: if your form isn’t perfect, but your stances are, the judges will overlook the minor errors.”
From an eleven-year-old. I thought that was neat.
